Overview

Membership

ASE is a federally incorporated not-for-profit organization! 

We are committed to the sustainability and integrity of our shared vision for empowering Black Canadians with disabilities. 


ASE Community 's constitution and bylaws are fundamental to this promise to centre Black Canadians with disabilities' voices and experiences. Consequently, subject to the articles, there shall be two classes of members in ASE, namely, Class A members (voting member) and Class B members (non-voting member).(S2.01)  

Criteria

 All membership types must:

  • be renewed annually
  • up to date with fees
  • abide by Bylaws, policies, and ASE's Framework.
  • approved by ASE Community Foundation  
  • be in good standing

Benefits

  All members will have:

  • access to and participation with ASE Community events, resources, partnerships, employment services, committees, and research/ policy discussions. 
  • participation in strategic planning, evaluations, and new initiatives.
  • priority access to volunteer, paid employment, and ASE Community roles and committees.
  • All members will receive a membership card and be eligible for ASE swag and discounts.


Note: To be a volunteer,  paid staff, or Board of Directors, you must be a member in good standing.    

Membership Types & Fees

Class A: Full Voting Members

Self-Identify as Black, African-Canadian, and/or African (Black Diaspora) with disabilities. Parent/guardian of child 18 & under.

AYA Member: $25

  • Live in Canada,
  • Right to vote, receive notices, and attend meetings.
  • Full access to events, resources, and referrals.
  • Subsidy, special student, and senior rates are available.

Class B: Non-Voting Members

Open to all individuals and/or organizations interested in supporting and advancing the strategic goals and vision of ASE Community Foundation. 

Individual Membership: $50

  • We welcome all individuals, living in Canada, to join and advance the vision and goals of the ASE Community.
  • A special invite to our allies and “critical friends” who are committed to social justice- particularly in challenging anti-Black racism and ableism in Canadian society.

Corporations and Institutions Membership: $500

  • We invite businesses, corporations, and public/private institutions to become valued partners and members.
  • Unique opportunities for your staff to engage and contribute to ASE Community.
  • Priority access to professional experts, training webinars, and policy/research findings.
  • Additional 2 individual memberships
  • Note: Sponsorship packages available.

Community Organizations Membership: $125

  • Must be a not-for-profit community-based organization in Canada.
  • Memberships for up to 4  employees/volunteers/board members of the community organization 
  • Referral and outreach processes to connect Black Canadians with disabilities to your organizations, services,  and programming.
  • Priority access to professional experts, training webinars, and policy/research findings.  

Global Friends (coming soon)

Individuals, corporations, institutions, and community organizations who are not located (reside) in Canada.
